Remembrance Day ceremony honouring veterans held in Barrie

Share

Barrie residents gathered on Monday to honour Canada’s veterans and pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed for the country.

The city’s Remembrance Day ceremony, held at the downtown Memorial Square Cenotaph, featured traditional tributes and moments of reflection.

The service included the laying of wreaths, a moment of silence, and readings to remember those lost in conflicts ranging from the First and Second World Wars to modern peacekeeping missions.

Local veterans, active-duty members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and representatives from the Royal Canadian Legion were in attendance to mark the solemn occasion.

Residents were invited to attend the ceremony and to wear a poppy as a symbol of remembrance.

The area was closed to traffic to accommodate the event.
