Police search for hit-and-run suspect

Police in Owen Sound are appealing to the public in their search for a driver who fled the scene of crash Friday evening.

According to the Owen Sound Police Service, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 6th Street East at around 11:40 p.m.

Police say a white SUV was travelling south on 2nd Avenue East and attempted to make a left turn on 6th Street directly in the path of a northbound vehicle.

Police add that the impact caused significant damage to the front end of the northbound vehicle, deploying its airbags.

The 75-year-old female driver of the northbound vehicle was treated for minor injuries and released.

Police say the driver of the white SUV fled the area prior to police arrival and without helping the other driver.

The Owen Sound Police Service are appealing to witnesses and anyone with footage of the incident or the white SUV that may assist the investigation.
