The OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit recovered the body of a seven-year-old boy who fell into the Magnetawan River near Burk’s Falls.
Officers from the OPP’s Almaguin Highlands detachment were called to the area around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after the boy fell into the river.
The OPP say the boy had been playing with some children along the shore of the river when he ended up going too far into the water and was swept away by the current.
Emergency responders extensively searched the river and around 1:00 p.m. recovered the boy's body.
Police say he was found in 11 feet of water and 217 metres below the dam.
The investigation is ongoing and police do not suspect foul play.
