One person has been arrested following an incident that involved residents evacuating and sheltering in place in Adjala-Tosorontio earlier this week.

Provincial police officers were called to a residence on Concession Road 2 for an altercation around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police aren't providing many details at this time, but a social media post issued Tuesday night advised residents on Concession Road 2 between Thomas Street and Webster Road to "lock all windows and doors" and "shelter in place."

Police said officers evacuated and contained the area.

Crisis negotiators spoke with the individual for several hours, and around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the subject was taken into police custody without further incident.

Provincial police did not disclose the charges or the individual's identity.

Nottawasaga OPP says the investigation into the situation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities at 1-800-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
