An Oro-Medonte man is facing more human trafficking charges after additional victims got in touch with police.
Since the arrest of Isaac “Ike” Crooks two weeks ago, the OPP say they have been able to identify two more victims.
At a news conference on Tuesday, police announced that the 58-year-old has been charged with two more counts of trafficking a person, sexual assault, obtain sexual service for consideration and material benefit for trafficking of a person.
“The offenders prey on victims in cities and towns big and small,” said OPP Insp. Tina Chalk.
In total, police have been able to identify 10 victims. Seven of those victims are under the age of 18.
Crooks was charged earlier this month with a slew of offences, including trafficking a person, trafficking a person under 16 years of age, and seven counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.
A large majority of offenders prey online, searching for the vulnerable with promises of love or a better life.
Once involved, victims are afraid to reach out for help.
"Once someone has been lured with promises of love or a better life, they are often transported from community to community, isolated from family or friends and every movement and action controlled by the trafficker," Chalk said at the news conference.
Crooks remains in police custody and will appear before a court on May 2.
Police believe there may be more victims and ask that anyone with information contact them or Crime Stoppers.
