BARRIE, ONT. -

Police and residents in the Angus area are searching for a senior citizen who has been missing since Thursday.

According to OPP, 78-year-old Jana Klikorka was last seen walking in the Angus area at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Klikorka wasn't dressed for the overnight temperatures, and her family and police were frantically looking for her.

On Friday, police were in the air and on the ground, looking for any signs of Klikorka.

"She hasn't been seen, she doesn't have a vehicle, and she is on foot with the weather getting colder," said Const. Scott Stajcer. "She is a senior, so we are concerned for her well-being."

The K-9 unit has been scouring wooded areas all day.

"We have multiple units going up there; they are searching in bushes, the K-9 unit and the helicopter are in the area flowing up on tips because she was last seen on foot, so we're not sure how far she could go," says Stajcer.

Klikorka was last seen wearing a black fleece jacket, grey pants and black shoes. Police say they have received several tips over the last 24 hours.

Her neighbours and even strangers have jumped in to help in the search.

Lois Harnum and her boyfriend Adam Tinney see Klikorka walking her dog most days.

"We're just driving around looking between houses on porches anywhere that she might have tucked in for the night, maybe because it is cold," says Harnum.

Police say those tips are still coming in from the public.
