Provincial police say a motorist travelling onto McKay Street from Bobcaygeon Road shortly after 6 a.m. noticed a man waving his arms, motioning for the driver to stop.
Police say the man said he needed help and asked the driver to get out of the vehicle, and that's when the driver noticed a second man trying to open the back passenger door.
They say the driver honked the horn and drove off.
The first man is described as being in his 30s, roughly six feet tall, clean-shaven, wearing all black and a hat with a brewery logo.
Police are investigating and encourage anyone who experienced a similar incident to report it to the authorities.
They also ask anyone who was in the area Monday morning and noticed anything suspicious to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
