On Wednesday morning, residents took it to social media after noticing an increase in police activity in a residential area of Midland.

Just after 9 a.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers responded to an area along Frazer Drive.

Police closed the road in the area of Frazer Drive between Rose Crescent and Park Avenue for the investigation.

Around 10 a.m., Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board was notified about the investigation. As a result of the situation, St. Theresa’s Catholic High School was placed into a hold and secure.

During a hold and secure, students and staff continue their school day indoors as usual, but no one is permitted to enter or exit the building.

Police say the incident is not a threat to public safety but investigators urged residents to avoid the area.

Detachment officers were being assisted at the scene by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine and Crime Unit.

Shortly before 2 p.m., police confirmed they were clearing the area and the hold and secure at the high school had been lifted.
