One person has died after fire broke out in a house in Wasaga Beach.

A call came in to Huronia West OPP at around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday reporting a residential fire on Dunkerron Avenue.

The Wasaga Beach Fire Department attended the house and found one man dead at the scene.

"Through the aggressive interior search of the structure, crews did discover a male patient on the floor. He was removed by fire crews to the front lawn where he was tended to by Simcoe paramedics and was determined to be deceased,” said Deputy Fire Chief Dan Bell.

At this time, the fire has been deemed non-suspicious.

The Ontario Fire Marshal will investigate with assistance from the OPP Huronia West Crime Unit, and a postmortem will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police say residents in the area should expect a police presence and emergency services throughout the day.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or you may submit your tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
