One dead in Oro-Medonte crash

One person is dead after a crash in Oro-Medonte on Saturday morning.

According to OPP, the single-vehicle crash happened around 1 a.m. on 15-16 Sideroad West between Line 5 and Line 6.

When emergency services arrived, they found the vehicle with extensive damage and two people inside.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while a passenger in the same car was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP say the driver has been arrested and charged with a series of offences, which include an operation causing death, an operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and a dangerous operation causing death.

The investigation is ongoing.
