OPP are investigating a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Midland on Saturday, which resulted in the lone rider’s death.

The incident occurred on William Street at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday according to police. County of Simcoe Paramedics and officers from Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to the scene.

Police say the 37-year-old motorcycle driver from Midland was triaged at the scene and then taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased by attending physicians.

William Street was closed around Gloucester Street and Bayview Drive to allow for the debris from the scene to be cleared. The OPP’s Technical Traffic Investigations unit are investigating factors that may have caused the crash, such as speed, helmet use and the rider’s condition.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with dashcam footage that may assist the investigation.
