One dead, another injured in Bracebridge shooting

One person is dead, and another is left with life-threatening injuries after being shot in Bracebridge Wednesday afternoon.

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say the incident happened on Stoneleigh Road shortly before 2 p.m.

OPP and Muskoka Paramedic Services responded to the scene, where they located a 56-year-old man dead and a 52-year-old woman seriously injured, according to police.

The woman was taken to the local hospital before being airlifted by Ornge to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

OPP says investigators believe it’s an isolated incident with no threat to public safety.

Local police are continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
