A nurse at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre was injured in an alleged assault involving a patient.
According to Barrie police, the nurse was assaulted by a man on Wednesday. The woman was injured, but investigators couldn’t speak towards the severity.
Officers were contacted and arrested a man under the Mental Health Act.
Hospital officials are not saying where the incident happened, but do confirm it was not in the emergency room.
“While we can’t comment on the specifics of the incident due to patient and staff privacy and the fact it is under police investigation, what we can share is we are taking this matter very seriously and a full investigation is underway,” said Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO.
Police say charges are pending.
