CTV News has confirmed a Beeton, Ont., man accused in a historical sex crimes case involving a five-year-old girl is facing additional charges.

John Wilkinson was previously arrested in August after a complainant came forward with allegations he sexually assaulted her as a child.

Police say Wilkinson and his accuser lived in the same Beeton neighbourhood in 2010.

The OPP issued an appeal to anyone who may have experienced something similar to come forward.

On Tuesday, police confirmed Wilkinson, 59, was arrested and faces additional charges of sexual interference and sexual assault on a person under 16.

The criminal code describes sexual interference as the touching of any part of the body of a young person for a sexual purpose.

He is scheduled to make a court appearance in Bradford next week. The allegations against Wilkinson have not been tested in court.
