Police are in Hanover looking for a suspect they say is armed and dangerous after a body was found early this morning.
Officers with the Hanover Police Service say a man’s body was found with signs of trauma in an apartment on 9th Avenue in the community, which is south of Owen Sound.
Investigators say a man fled the apartment on foot through a back alley before police got there just before 6 a.m.
"It's pretty scary... that it's right next door to where you're living," says Jerry Mitchell, who lives beside building where the alleged murder happened. "You usually know the people that are here, so you don't expect something like this to happen."
Police aren’t releasing any details about the victim until his family is notified.
The OPP’s criminal investigation branch, crime unit, and forensic identification unit have been called in to help in the investigation.
While there is no description of the suspect yet, police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
If you see any suspicious person, call police immediately at 911.
