Three of four men injured in a lightning strike at a York Region golf course Tuesday have been released from hospital.

The fourth man remains in hospital in critical condition.

The four were injured at a golf course north of Whitchurch-Stouffville Tuesday after a lightning strike. YRP Const. Andy Pattenden tells CTV News they received a call to Bethesda Grange Golf Course at 12808 Warden Ave. shortly before noon for people possibly struck by lightning after a storm rolled through.

According to witnesses, the golf course's warning alarm sounded when lightning became imminent and then lightning struck and people started yelling to call 911. According to CP24's Cam Woolley, who is at the scene, a small group rushed from the clubhouse to a spot about 200 metres away where they found four victims. Three people were shaken up, but a fourth man's clothing was badly burnt. That man was unconscious and without vital signs. One of the rescuers happened to be an ICU nurse and the group started to work on reviving the man.

They managed to get a pulse as emergency services personnel arrived.

A 51-year- old man from Thornhill, a 53-year-old man from Toronto and a 56-year-old man from Toronto were taken to hospital in stable condition. A 60-year-old-man from Richmond Hill was taken to hospital in critical condition.
