A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being struck and trapped beneath a pickup truck in Bradford West Gwillumbury.

South Simcoe Police says the 55-year-old man was struck near Melborne Street and Holland Street on Sunday afternoon. Investigators say the man was dragged for a about 500 metres before the driver noticed.

The truck had to be lifted in order to rescue the pedestrian, who remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
