Midland man accused of violent sexual assaults denied bail after 2nd arrest

A Midland man accused of violent sexual assaults who was granted bail last month has been arrested again, but this time, he will remain behind bars.
Michael L’Enfant Sr. walked out of the Barrie courthouse moments after a justice of the peace denied his 32-year-old son bail.
According to court documents obtained by CTV News, the accused, Michael L’Enfant is facing additional charges, including child luring, with several complainants accusing him of victimizing them over several years.
L’Enfant was arrested last week after it’s alleged he breached conditions of his release in November.
Ontario Provincial Police did not offer comment on the new charges against the accused.

On November 1, L’Enfant’s father pledged $5,000 to secure his release. L’Enfant was ordered to be under house arrest or in direct company of his father at their Midland home at all times.
He was also ordered not to communicate with the complainants or witnesses in the case. Their identities, along with evidence heard in court, are protected by publication bans.
L’Enfant was charged in late October with two sexual assaults, three counts of sexual assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance, communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services and overcome resistance.
Investigators say he is known to police and court records reveal he pleaded guilty to uttering threats in 2023 and was convicted in 2020 of assault with a weapon.
Police encourage anyone with information in the case to reach out, and remind the public there is no statute of limitations when reporting sexual offences.
L’Enfant is due back in court by video from jail in Penetanguishene next week. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
