A 37-year-old man is facing drugs and theft charges after he was arrested on Saturday night in Barrie.

The investigation started Friday night when Barrie Police say they located in a stolen car at a south-end motel just before 11:00 p.m.

Police were questioning three men about the car when one man ran away. Officers learned the man was the driver of the car. Police searched the area but couldn’t locate him.

Then just after 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night, an officer found the man in the back of a taxi in downtown Barrie and arrested him. Police say during the arrest they located a syringe loaded with suspected heroin in the man’s pocket. They also determined he was breaching his probation order.

The man was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of heroin and failing to comply with probation.
