Provincial police say a man has been charged following an investigation into alleged human trafficking in Peterborough.

Officers say they started investigating after they stopped a car for a roadside check and were concerned for a female passenger.

They say the force's Peterborough County Crime Unit then investigated further.

Police say the accused, a 36-year-old Kingston man, was charged with one count of procuring under 18 years and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

He appeared in court on Saturday.
