MAHC's hospital redevelopment edges closer to reality
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s (MAHC) quest to revamp patient care in Muskoka took a significant step forward on Tuesday.
MAHC submitted its proposal for redevelopment of its hospitals in Bracebridge and Huntsville to the Ontario Ministry of Health.
“Submitting the stage 1.3 proposal is a pivotal achievement in our journey toward building state-of-the-art health care facilities that will serve our region for decades to come," said Dave Uffelmann, chair of the MAHC board of directors.

Last month, the board unanimously approved moving forward with Stage 1.3, which includes 46 patients beds in Bracebridge, up from the initial 14 beds.
The proposal includes refined financial projections “to ensure responsible budgeting and efficient use of resources.”
“This redevelopment is not just about bricks and mortar; it's about transforming how we deliver care. Our vision is to create healing environments that foster wellness and improve health outcomes for everyone in our region,” stated MAHC president and CEO Cheryl Harrison.
Both the District of Muskoka and the Town of Bracebridge have endorsed the redevelopment.
