The Transportation Safety Board says it has completed its investigation into a fatal plane crash that killed the pilot near Beeton over the weekend.

Two investigators from the TSB spent all day Sunday on site of the crash, trying to determine how and why a single-engine Glasair plane crashed into a wooded-area.

At around 3 p.m. on Saturday, the plane crashed in the area of 8th Line and Tottenham Road. The plane struck hydro lines and a hydro pole prior to the crash – a witness reported the plane was experiencing engine trouble while another witness said there were snow squalls in the area at the time.

TSB investigator Mario Boulet says the pilot is from the area and he was going to land in a private field to store the aircraft for the winter. Some instruments were ejected from the plane when it hit the hydro pole and those are being sent for further testing.

The 8th Line was closed for several hours on Saturday, while emergency crews were on scene.
