A man died in a three vehicle crash in East Gwillimbury around 9:00 p.m.

York Regional Police say the collision happened on Leslie Street north of Boag Road.

According to police,  a Toyota was driving on Leslie Road when it hit a slow-moving backhoe travelling on the shoulder of the road. The force of the impact sent the  Toyota airborne and then landed on top of another car, a  Honda.

A 35-year old man from Keswick was driving the Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His two year old son was in the backseat and was not injured.

The child was taken to hospital as a precaution and was released to his mother.

A man and woman, both 69-years-old and from Keswick, were in the Toyota and both sustained life-threatening injuries.

A 70-year-old driver of the backhoe was not injured.

This investigation is ongoing and police ask any witnesses to call 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7704 or crimestoppers.
