Construction is taking place at Honda's Industrial Parkway location.
"Site preparation involves a series of tasks carried out before building new plant structures can begin," Honda noted in a release. "The work includes but is not limited to removing vegetation and a raised bank of land (or berm), as well as grading and levelling the area where the new buildings will be constructed."
The project to erect two new facilities may cause some disruption for nearby residents, but the company says it's taking steps to minimize any impact.
Despite the company's efforts to lessen the impact of truck traffic, minor delays are possible along Industrial Parkway, Highway 89, County Road 10, and County Road 27 during construction.
The project is part of the company's plan to be a fully electric manufacturer by 2040 and is expected to employ more than 4,200 people when fully operational.
The Honda facility will be Ontario's third electric vehicle battery plant, following Volkswagen in St. Thomas and a Stellantis LG plant in Windsor.
