A special Junior A hockey game will be held Friday night in Gravenhurst at the Graeme Murray arena to honour a fallen OPP officer.
Constable Brad Pearsall died suddenly on March 2nd while playing hockey in Bracebridge.
“He was lots of fun out on the ice, just loved to play hockey and be active and joke around in the dressing room,” says Brett McRoberts.
McRoberts has found memories of his former co-worker and friend. Friends say he was a great officer, top of his class when it came to his job but it’s his personality they will remember most.
“There’s lots of things that Brad did that made me smile but he was competitive. When we played hockey I was a goalie and he was a goal scorer so it was the comradery of I’m going to stop you and I’m going to score,” says OPP Detective Dave Allen.
Pearsall was an avid fan of the South Muskoka Shield and on Friday night the team will take to the ice, playing for a win and for one of their biggest supporters.
“He was a great supporter of local Junior A hockey and we just wanted to have a night to bring all first responders throughout the district here and use hockey as the venue to get everyone together in his memory,” says South Muskoka Shield co-owner Courtney Doran.
Money raised will be donated to the Tema Conter Memorial Trust Fund – a fund that helps front line workers in the emergency services who suffer from PTSD.
