The forensic psychiatrist who took the stand on Monday spent more than 11 hours assessing Shayne Lund.

Dr. Scott Woodside described the assessment as lengthy, noting it usually takes six to seven hours. He told the Barrie court, "I don't have any doubt that he suffers from a pedophilic disorder."

In his opinion, Woodside says Lund should not have children and that "if I were made aware he had children, I would contact children's aid."

This hearing will pave the way for the court to decide if Lund should be declared a dangerous offender. Lund pleaded guilty to 34 charges involving a series of sexual assaults on young children.

If released from custody Woodside considers Lund a moderate to high risk to reoffend.

"Never comes a time when we say we don't have to worry about this individual. He'll have to manage this, the rest of his life. It's already my recommendation he should never have unsupervised contact with children under age 18."

The doctor's testimony continued with recommendations and treatment options, including drugs to help decrease Lund's sexual drive.

He admitted that Lund's case is not an easy one to deal with, noting that Lund does not resemble an average guy in the community when it comes to his state of mind.

The doctor also warned the judge that in his experience, many men discontinue treatment once they aren't supervised anymore.

The court is expected to hear at least one more victim impact statement and then arguments from both the Crown and defence.

It will be several more days before this hearing wraps up, and then there's no telling how long it will take the judge to make his decision.
