A fundraiser that challenges you to get active with your pup begins next week.

The "Buddy Up for COPE" campaign launches on September 12, aiming to raise funds for the Canines in the Classroom and Reading Buddy Programs.

It challenges participants to choose their favourite COPE service dog and get walking, running, paddling, cycling or hiking with them.

An official flag raising and proclamation for the campaign was made at Barrie City Hall Friday, with local dignitaries attending.

COPE Service Dogs is a local charity that breeds, trains and places service dogs with people with physical disabilities.

According to the non-profit, the goal is to raise $30,000 during the month-long campaign.
