Fire caused more than a million dollars in damage to a home in Mono Township on Saturday afternoon.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office spent Monday combing through the debris of a home on 4th Line East, north of Hockley Road.

Large flames and thick smoke could be seen coming from the home at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.  A family was home at the time, but they were able to escape without injury.

Crews say the fire was so widespread they struggled to make entry to the house for quite some time.

The initial call indicated the fire started in the garage and spread to the rest of the home, but that’s still under investigation.

A cause has not yet been determined.
