Extreme heat and tinder dry conditions have some provincial parks in the region issuing fire bans.

A full fire ban is in effect at Arrowhead, Killbear, Oastler Lake, Six Mile Lake and The Massasauga.

This means park users are not allowed to have campfires or use charcoal barbeques. Gas stoves and gas/propane barbecues are allowed for cooking.

Other provincial parks in the region have issued partial bans. Those parks include Awenda, Bass Lake, Balsam Lake, Craigleith and McRae Point.

The partial ban means campfires are only permitted during restricted hours, must be in designated fire pits, attended by a responsible person at all times and extinguished after permitted burning hours.

The permitted burning hours varies at each provincial park.

The full and partial bans will remain in effect for until further notice.
