Fire and Ice festival returns to Bracebridge
The popular Fire and Ice festival made its return to Bracebridge on Sat., Jan. 28 (Steve Mansbridge/CTV News).
A popular festival celebrating the heat and snow returned to Bracebridge for a day of festivities.
Due to the pandemic, the town's Fire and Ice Festival was cancelled for several years, but on Saturday, hundreds of people made their way downtown for its return.
"To be able to restart what is absolutely one of the most marquee events in all of Ontario, it's incredible," said Rick Maloney, Mayor of Bracebridge. "I can tell you, everyone is having a great time."
The event featured axe throwing, outdoor bowling, a lumberjack show, and much more. Its main event is a giant tubing hill made right in the middle of downtown.
"It took about 50 truckloads to bring extra snow for the hill," Maloney added. "By tomorrow, this will all be cleared and reopened; you wouldn't even know what happened here."
