Fall festivities begin with the Oro World's Fair
It's a sign that fall is approaching; the 172nd annual Oro World's Fair kicks off Friday in Oro-Medonte.
The two-day fair is a tradition in Simcoe County, highlighting agriculture and community.
A parade of 60-plus-year-old cars and tractors officially launched the 2024 edition, bringing together more than 10,000 community members from each generation.

The fair features more than 40 vendors, antique farming displays, demonstrations, livestock and friendly competitions.
The Poultry and Rabbit Show chairman, John Hawkins, has been involved with the fair for decades. "I came to Barrie in '65, and I've enjoyed the fair ever since then."
It also has plenty of family-friendly fun, including a midway, pony rides, a talent show, live music, and performances.
Visitors can enjoy watching the tractor pull, an amateur talent show, and the always popular demolition derby, which is expected to draw a large crowd.
Additionally, the fair offers visitors a chance to learn about where their food comes from, modern farming practices, and the importance of agriculture to the local economy.
A full schedule of events is available online.
The fair at the Oro-Medonte Fairgrounds on Sideroad 15/16 wraps up at 5 p.m. Saturday.
