Driver blows over 2x legal alcohol limit after 'aggressively' testing out snow tires in Barrie neighbourhood

Police say an attempt to test out some new snow tires could have ended badly in Barrie on Thursday night, but instead, resulted in charges for a 45-year-old driver.
The Barrie service said officers received a call about a vehicle “being oddly operated” in a neighbourhood south of Little Avenue around 10 p.m.
Police say officers located the vehicle pulling into a driveway and placed the driver under arrest for showing “obvious signs of impairment.”

According to authorities, the accused blew well over twice the legal alcohol limit at the police station.
He was charged with impaired driving, and as a result, his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Barrie Police Services corporate communications coordinator, Peter Leon, noted in the release that the driver had made a poor decision to try out new snow tires “in an aggressive manner.”
Leon added that his alleged actions could have “ended in a tragic outcome.”
“This incident is an excellent example of the positive results that can occur when the community and police work together and police credit this community minded citizen with making the right call,” Leon stated in the release.
