'Don't be that driver,' Motorists reminded to clear snow and ice off vehicles

Provincial police remind motorists to completely clear vehicles of snow and ice before hitting the road.

“Don’t be that driver,” the OPP stated in a post on social media after conducting a traffic stop in Wasaga Beach.

An officer stopped an SUV travelling with a foot of snow on its roof.

“Removing snow and ice from your vehicle is crucial for safe winter driving. It can prevent accidents and keep our roads clear,” the post continued.

This motorist was let off with a warning.

Motorists can face charges under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act for not properly clearing their vehicles of snow and ice.

With the winter weather having finally arrived, provincial police urge motorists to drive according to the conditions, plan ahead, and be considerate on the roads.
