Crews attend 2 separate tractor-trailer collisions on Hwy 11

Heavy tow equipment was called to two separate collisions involving tractor-trailers Wednesday evening along Highway 11 as snow squalls picked up through the area making driving conditions messy.
The highway was down to one southbound lane just before 8 p.m. for several hours after a tractor-trailer overturned in Oro-Medonte north of Line 10.
One person was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

While crews were working to remove that transport and clean up the area, another call came in just after 8 p.m. for a second transport-truck that had jack-knifed on Highway 11 in Severn Township.
The incident forced the highway near Brennan Line to be closed in both directions for several hours while heavy tow equipment worked to remove the big rig.
No injuries were reported in that case.
Earlier in the day, provincial police reported Highway 11 was moving well, with no collisions reported, and commended motorists for adjusting their speed to the weather conditions.
Police advised anyone travelling on the roads to pay attention, avoid sudden braking or accelerating maneuvers “as it could cause a loss of control of your vehicle.”
