A checkpoint stop in Midland left one woman with drug and impaired driving charges.

The early-morning drug bust occurred at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) stop at 2:06 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 12 near Wye Valley Road.

Once the provincial officer spoke with the driver, a drug investigation was started.

Soon after, police discovered what they believed to be cocaine in the blue Chevrolet pick-up truck.

A 53-year-old Port McNicoll woman was brought to the police station and charged with operation while impaired by drugs and possession of cocaine.

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 24, was served a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the truck was towed and impounded for seven days.
