Crews have been cleaning up around the clock in Orillia after the severe weather Friday.

The downburst on Friday destroyed 26 trees in Couchiching Park alone.

Kim Pattenden’s family was in Couchiching Park at the time and had to decide between hiding under a pavilion or running to their car.

“We thought of it at first, but my friend said no lets go to the pavilion. There's no trees around it.. and I'm so thankful she did,” said Pattenden

Moments after they took shelter they saw a massive tree branch come down and land on their car.

Couchiching Park, Tudhope Park, and all Orillia roads have been cleaned of debris and are again open to the public.

Some areas are still blocked off by tape, however officials expect all damaged areas will be cleared and made safe by the end of the day Sunday.
