Two men face multiple charges after an incident in Owen Sound that allegedly involved the discharge of a firearm and left one man in critical condition.

Police say they were called to an apartment building on the city's east side late Sunday afternoon after reports of an assault and a man with a gun.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man on the ground, believed to have been assaulted. He was taken to a London hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

While searching the area, police said they discovered a bus shelter window had been shot out. Witnesses reported seeing a man firing a gun at a vehicle as it drove away from the scene, shattering the car windows and bus shelter glass.

Police arrested a man at the scene and said they recovered an air pistol, an expandable baton, and a knife. They charged the man with multiple offences.

During the investigation over the past week, police said they determined that two men arrived at the apartment parking lot and were met by two others. Authorities suspect the situation escalated quickly, with one man assaulting another, leaving him unconscious. They said that after the alleged assault, two men reportedly stole property from the injured victim and took off.

They believe the injured man's companion gave chase, firing shots at the suspects' vehicle.

Police later found a vehicle at an industrial property on the east side, where they say a search turned up drugs, weapons, and thousands in cash.

A 46-year-old man faces 10 charges, including pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm. A 22-year-old man faces eight charges, including aggravated assault, robbery, and various drug and weapons-related offences.
