Celebrating pop culture at Barrie's annual ComiCon
Artists, fans and vendors celebrated everything nerdy in our city on Sunday.
From costumed-caped crusaders to the books from which they came, there were tons of items on display as Barrie's ComiCon took over a local community centre.
The event is held annually, taking inspiration from its larger counterparts across North America. It focuses on showcasing the talents of local artists, giving people in attendance the opportunity to find unique things to Barrie and Simcoe County.
"comic book were, from an immigrant family, was frowned upon, art wasn't something you'd make a living out of," said Loc Nguyen, an artist based in Barrie. "But now as kids, who've grown up with pop culture and by watching CTV, or CKVR growing up, I fell in love with telling stories through pictures."
The event also invited those in attendance to bring food donations for the local foodbank. Those who did were entered into a contest to win some awesome prizes.
