Orangeville police are investigating the death of a cat after it was allegedly tossed from a moving vehicle.

A witness told investigators the black and white cat was thrown out of a window on Friday, at around 1 a.m. in the area of Dawson Road and Townline.

Despite its injuries, the feline was able to make its way into a nearby bush where it later died.

“I am deeply saddened and disturbed by this cowardly, horrific act,” Orangeville police chief Wayne Kalinski said in a statement.

The witness couldn’t provide a description of the suspects, but reports that four teenagers were in the car. The vehicle is described as an older four-door black Honda Civic or Volkswagen.

This is the second report case of a cat being thrown a vehicle in the last week.

A cat was allegedly thrown from a pickup truck in Collingwood. That cat did survive, but no arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
