Canadians turned out in record droves for the advance polls over the long weekend.

According to Elections Canada, an estimated 4.7 million voters cast ballots, that's up 29 percent from the 2015 early polls.

Advance polling stations were open from Friday, Oct. 11 to Monday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. - the first time advance polls have been open for 12 hours.

Today, party leaders fanned out across the country with the clock ticking closer to election day.

Nanos Research reports that since Sept. 13, the NDP's have surged by nearly four points to 19 percent support. The rise comes mostly at the expense of the Liberals who are in a statistical tie with the Tories, at 32.3 and 32.1, respectively.

Green support remains largely unchanged around nine percent, while the Bloc has gained momentum in Quebec.

Voters will head to the polls on Oct. 21.
