Burl’s Creek Events Ground has filed an appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) and will challenge Oro-Medonte Township’s   temporary use by-law.

In a press release, the township said a special council meeting was scheduled for October 21st to receive the staff report regarding the 2015 Temporary Use By-law application for Burl’s Creek Event Grounds.

The Township has now received an appeal filed by Burl’s Creek for the OMB on the failure of the Township to make a decision.

With the appeal, a decision on the application will rests with the OMB and therefore, the special council meeting for October 21st has been cancelled.

An appeal can be filed with the OMB within 120 days from the date when the application is deemed complete. The Township deemed the application complete on April 13, 2015.

According to the township, there are a number of factors involved in the process before a staff report may be prepared. The complexity and changes to technical studies associated with the application, including the timing of responses from external agencies are a few of the factors that impacted the status of completing the staff report.

This past summer, Burl’s Creek hosted two major concert and camping festivals, WayHome and Boots and Hearts.

The township says staffs are currently preparing a package of the required documentation to be sent to the OMB.

Once an appeal has been processed, details including hearing date and location will be available on the E-Status section of the OMB website.
