A 15-year-old from Shelburne is facing multiple charges after provincial police say he crashed into an officer’s cruiser in an allegedly stolen vehicle.

Police say an officer on patrol in Orangeville Saturday afternoon was alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition system to a reportedly stolen vehicle travelling on Highway 10 near First Street.

They say officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver attempted to take off and reversed into one of the marked police cruisers.

No one was injured, and the boy was arrested.

He is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving without a licence, failing to stop for police, and careless driving.

The identity of the accused is protected under the Youth Justice Criminal Act.
