Search efforts got underway after it was reported the child went into the water and disappeared.
"There was a family member in the area at the time that the child went out of view," OPP Const. David Hobson said.
Emergency services searched on land, in the air, and in the water throughout the afternoon.
Shortly after 7 p.m., police confirmed the boy's body had been located and recovered.
The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are investigating the cause of death.
Out of respect for the grieving and devastated family, CTV News will not be naming the child.
