Alliston Ont. infant death now deemed homicide; 16-year-old charged

OPP are investigating the death of a newborn infant in Alliston.

Alliston, Ontario — A 16-year-old from Alliston Ont. has been charged with murder after police found a dead newborn inside a home in Alliston in November.

After the discovery of the body, Nov. 21, Ontario Provincial Police began their investigation.

On Wed., Jan. 15, OPP laid charges of first degree murder and indignity to a dead body.

The OPP has not confirmed the relationship between the teen charged and the infant.

The 16-year-old is scheduled to make their first court appearance Thursday.

Police say the Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is investigating alongside the Criminal Investigation Branch, OPP Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
