Barrie senior arrested on child pornography charges

Provincial police have arrested and charged a senior with numerous child-related sex offences.
Police were informed about an historical sexual offence on a minor on October 23.
By October 24, the Orillia Provincial Police had received a warrant to search a Barrie address and found and seized a quantity of child pornography.
On Thursday, a 62-year-old Barrie man was charged with:
- Invitation to sexual touching
- Sexual interference
- Two counts of making, printing, publishing or possession for the purpose of publication any child pornography
- Possession of child pornography
- Two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 18 years of age
- Two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
- Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
- Sexual interference
The accused was held in custody, pending a bail hearing.

Police are concerned that there could be other victims. Anyone with information about these or a similar incident is urged to call the Orillia OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Police reiterate there is no statute of limitations on sexual offences and police can be contacted at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
