Barrie's invisible parking permits still good 'til 2026
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
With that axiom in mind, Barrie is extending the digital resident waterfront parking permits.
The permits which were previously set to expire in 2024 will now remain valid until December 31, 2026.
"The extension of the digital waterfront parking permits reflects our commitment to making life easier for Barrie residents," said Mayor Alex Nuttall. "We're removing unnecessary administrative hurdles and ensuring residents can continue to enjoy select waterfront parking areas with minimal effort and no cost."

No action is required if you currently have a resident waterfront parking permit – the permit will automatically renew. Barrie residents will have continued access to select waterfront parking areas without the need for renewal.
Previous physical paper hangtags for waterfront parking are no longer valid. All Barrie residents are required to upgrade to a digital parking permit.
For step-by-step instructions on how to get your free digital permit through the HotSpot app or website—no payment information is required – visit the waterfront parking website.
In honour of the Christmas season, there is free two-hour parking downtown during the month of December.
