Curbside Giveaway Day is happening in Barrie on Saturday, allowing residents to be rid of used items others may find useful.

"It's like a garage sale, but without the money or hassle," the City explained.

Residents can place unwanted items at the curb or end of their driveway for others to scoop up for free starting Saturday at 8 a.m.

Items can be left for pickup until 9 that night, but anything remaining must be removed. There is no municipal collection for these items.

Anyone interested in participating is invited to share the items they wish to be rid of on the City's Facebook page so others know what's being offered and where.

"Apart from finding things for free, you also benefit by cleaning your home of unwanted items while helping prolong the life of Barrie's landfill," the City stated.

Residents in the BIA area downtown cannot participate since "placing items on the sidewalk could be a hazard to pedestrians."
