Two people have been arrested for impaired driving in Barrie after the driver and the passenger allegedly switched seats.

According to Barrie police, an officer on patrol early Monday morning along Grove Street, noticed the vehicle being driven erratically. By the time the officer caught up to the vehicle, he says the male driver and female passenger had switched spots.

Police determined that the now female driver and passenger had been drinking and requested a breath sample. Investigators say the woman blew over twice the legal blood alcohol limit – the man refused to provide a sample.

The 34-year-old woman and the 27-year-old man are charged with impaired driving. The vehicle will be impounded for 45 days.
