It's been an excellent start to the season for the Barrie Lakeshores lacrosse team and last night they defended their 100-per-cent home record against the Peterborough Lakers.

The fortress of the Holly Rec Centre was the venue.

Dan Michel scored a beauty to start the second for Peterborough and the Lakers took a 5-4 lead over the Lakeshores.

The visitors added another classy goal as Zac Currier found a way past Nicolas Meigs to open up a three-goal lead.

The Lakeshores fought fiercely and rediscovered their scoring touch through Austin Lane.

That made it 7-5.

Eventually, despite hat tricks from TJ Sanders and Joel Tinney, Barrie fell short 13-12 and lost their first at home.

They're now 6-3 on the year.
