Snowfall warning in effect for much of New Brunswick

Much of New Brunswick could see significant snowfall beginning Sunday evening.

Environment Canada says most areas of the province could see more than 25 centimetres of snow through Sunday and into Monday morning.

“An area of low pressure will track across Nova Scotia on Monday morning bringing snow to New Brunswick,” reads a warning from the agency.

“Gusty northerly winds will develop behind the low and combine with the freshly fallen snow to cause periods of reduced visibility in blowing snow during the day Monday. The snow may change to rain over areas near the Fundy Coast, leading to reduced snowfall amounts in those areas.”

A freezing rain warning is also in effect for Cumberland and northern Colchester counties in Nova Scotia.

“An intensifying weather system will push a rain/snow boundary across northern Colchester and Cumberland counties late Sunday night and into Monday morning,” the warning reads.

“There is strong likelihood of a persistent period of freezing rain near this boundary, with accumulating snow to the north of it and rain further to the south.”
